Claudio Rigacci was born in Tuscany, in Florence, in 1970.

He worked in a workshop as a craftsman to learn the techniques of sculpture on marble and stone. In his spare time, here he created some of his first works, now lost in time, but he was not entirely satisfied about that.

In the following years, he met Danilo Lanini, a woodworking artist who brought him closer to this rich and living material and together with him he took part in some lessons promoted by the Florentine master engraver Omero Soffici, where he mastered wood carving techniques. A new phase begins for the artist: what he called “fun” in his sketches, became real works ranging from marble to wood.

My works are initially born on a sheet of paper, in two dimensions. Following the lines of my imaginative and abstract drawings, I create my works trying to achieve unity, wholeness and a harmonious balance between them. Getting inspiration by the perfection of the lines of nature that surrounds us, I try to extract the right form from the materials that fulfill my vision.
