Tim Taylor is a visual artist with a Master’s degree in Studio Art from Claremont Graduate School, earned in the 1980s. He studied painting under Roland Reiss, who had been mentored by Tom Griffith. His artistic education was also shaped by insightful conversations with sound sculptor Michael Brewster.
Taylor learned unique techniques from sculptor Aldo Cassinova, including how to wax carved polyurethane. He later developed his foundry skills as an apprentice at Johnson Atelier, where he worked on major projects such as George Segal’s Breadline and collaborated with Andrzej Pitynski on the casting of The Partisans.
Throughout his career, Taylor has participated in international artist residencies, including Elea Arte in Ascea, Italy, and the International Ceramics Studio in Hungary. He has received multiple awards and has exhibited widely, with features in various publications. His sculpture Gold Ball 2 was chosen as the cover image for Cambridge University Press’s On Taste, a collection of philosophical essays.
Taylor’s work focuses on the interplay of surface, material, and light—always with a thoughtful approach to their historical significance and relevance in today’s evolving world of visual art.
