Luisa Lynch
My journey into the world of photography began in 1983, with a Polaroid camera gifted by my uncle Pino. That simple gesture sparked a lifelong passion that has shaped my creative path ever since. Over the decades, photography has been not only a medium of expression but also a way to connect with people, places, and the hidden stories within the world around us.
In the 1990s, I was honored to participate in the 2nd Tenerife Fotonoviembre International Photography Biennial with the collective project Little Stories. Around the same time, I began teaching photography through a workshop organized by the Hon. City Hall of La Orotava—a program that continues to this day and remains close to my heart.
Throughout my career, I’ve been involved in numerous exhibitions across the Canary Islands and beyond. In Madrid, I took part in the collective project Canarios en Madrid, and as a member of the Artefacto group, I exhibited in the Añepa room in La Orotava. I also collaborated with the Albarabi group in the Colmena space. A particularly meaningful experience was my photographic work shown alongside the music of award-winning Tenerife composer Antonio Hernández.
I have also contributed to interdisciplinary projects such as Trip to Dream Level (Dance-Video-Theater), presented at the El Tanque Cultural Space in Santa Cruz de Tenerife. This work traveled to several cities including Lima, Caracas, Madrid, Adeje, Puerto de la Cruz, and Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.
Over the last twenty-five years, I have participated in various group exhibitions, always driven by the desire to explore visual storytelling from multiple perspectives. My work—especially in the field of wildlife and nature photography—has been recognized in several national and international competitions. These include the National Wildlife Federation Photo Contest, the Monochrome Photography Awards, the Fine Art Photography Awards, the Monovisions Black and White Photography Awards, the International Photography Awards (IPA), and the Tokyo and Moscow International Photography Awards, among others.
Photography remains, for me, a way of seeing and re-seeing the world—a language through which silence, movement, and memory take shape.
