In my dream
“In my dream”
Watercolor gouache and pencil, 22x22cm – €2000

In my dream
My feet hurt
Like hell
I lived
All my life
In one room
And the world
Was going
To end
I slept a little more
And then
I woke up!
.
Gold and mud
“Gold and mud”
Watercolor gouache and pencil, 22x22cm – €2000

Gold and mud
He wanted to dance
But broken voices came to him
From far within himself
Gold poured
From his palms
And mud was nourishing
His roots.
.
A man with a beard and a bird
“A man with a beard and a bird”
Watercolor gouache and pencil, 22x22cm – €2000

A man with a beard and a bird
It is a mystery
That’s made of nothing
And yet it works
Looking with no eyes
You’ll find
It’s made of
Blocks of dreams
And colors
That are open
To no end.
.
Your body
“Your body”
Watercolor gouache and pencil, 22x22cm – €2000

With wild hair
And colors
Only from his neck
To his forehead
He stopped
And looked at me
I am your body
He said
Living in the world
Of things
And what are you
really?
.
Shine without a story
“Shine without a story”
Watercolor gouache and pencil, 22x22cm – €2000

I built my courage
Out of fear
I like it
That I made green gardens
Out of it
The sun in me
Grew a hill
The hill in me
Grew a tower
And the tower sent a rocket to the cloud
Now think of it:
The cloud will move away for sure
The lines will melt into the air
The sun will shine its light
Alone.
.
Maybe and maybe not
“Maybe and maybe not”
Watercolor gouache and pencil, 22x22cm – €2000

I am rowing
A boat.
The boat is
A cloud
Made of
Colored rocks
Climbing out from
Unknown depths.
I am rowing
My boat
Out to space.
Maybe
There will be
An island
On my way,
And maybe not?
Making art for me is an investigation of who I am.
I ask myself: Who am I at this moment, and I start to paint.
Who am I is endlessly open, clear and full of possibilities. And everything that I still believe is real in our reality, appears as clouds in my clear sky.
When I paint, I follow only my individual sense of beauty. This is what guides my actions. It comes out different every time. The energies of my true self express themselves, using my sense of beauty. The clouds that I still keep in my being appear too in the art and I can see them. I read my art and write a poem on what i see. This seeing releases my clouds, or releases me from the tendency to hold on to them.
The sense of beauty helps me see everything in its relationships to everything else, and makes it clear to me that endlessness is the only constant real context.
So it is an investigation of both what I am not, which still shows up, and the real, endless me: How far can I dive into that? The more of the real me that comes into the art, the more free I become from my obstacles.
I believe that art is simply the language of the truth.
Individual sense of beauty is its discerning instrument.
I work small in this time of my life because of disability. It is enough for me for this self investigation.
Giora Carmi

Parcus Gallery proudly presents Giora Carmi, an artist whose work delves into the timeless question of self-identity through a deeply intuitive and spiritual lens. Each of his paintings is a meditative experience, paired with poetic reflections that explore the evolving nature of the self. His art invites viewers to look beyond fleeting thoughts and emotions, guiding them toward a more authentic, joyful sense of being.

Giora Carmi’s artistic evolution spans over five decades and reflects a profound dedication to visual storytelling. His career began in the early 1970s as a graphic designer and illustrator. From 1985 onward, he made his mark in New York City’s creative scene, where his illustrations appeared in The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, and numerous other respected platforms. His portfolio includes design work for over 200 book covers and illustrations for 42 children’s books—each project bearing his distinctive sensitivity and visual clarity.

In 2002, Carmi embraced a new path as an art therapist, using the healing power of creativity to help others explore their emotional landscapes. This phase enriched his artistic voice, deepening his awareness of human vulnerability and resilience. Since 2018, he has committed fully to his studio practice, producing a body of work that resonates with both intimacy and universality.

Carmi’s work has been exhibited in various galleries across the United States and Europe. A highlight in his exhibition history includes a solo show in Cologne (Köln), Germany, which affirmed his international relevance. At Parcus Gallery, we are honored to showcase his recent explorations—where painting, poetry, and short narratives come together in a vibrant dialogue of self-discovery and emotional depth.

Giora Carmi is more than an artist—he is a seeker, a storyteller, and a visionary. His contributions continue to inspire audiences to reconnect with their inner truth and the ever-changing landscape of the soul.
