Annemarie Ambrosoli

Annemarie Ambrosoli was born in Steinhaus/Ahrntal (BZ) in South Tyrol, northern Italy, in 1954. Since she was young, she had a passion for drawing. As a child, she often visited her uncle, the artist painter Ercole Frigoli, spending hours watching him paint. Her uncle would instruct her to observe closely how he used colors. These early lessons became crucial when she later decided to attend the summer academy in Brunico (BZ) directed by academic professors. She specialized in landscape painting, capturing scenes outdoors, as well as in portraiture, depicting characters from life, and still life. She experimented with pastels, colored pencils, tempera, gouache, acrylic, oil, and watercolor paints. When painting outdoors, she carried a sketchbook for watercolor or a tripod, canvas, and oil paints. This period was pivotal in her artistic career, as she learned about composition and the changing hues of landscapes under different lighting conditions. These experiences laid the foundation for her later development of a personal style.

During this time, she had the opportunity to exhibit in galleries both in Italy and abroad, participating in collective and solo exhibitions. Images of her landscape paintings were published in numerous prestigious art books, and critics wrote reviews about her art. At a certain point in her life, she decided to move to Carinthia, Austria, where she opened her own art gallery, showcasing her landscapes, portraits, and still lifes in solo exhibitions. During this period, she began exhibiting her paintings at international art fairs.

Between 2015 and 2016, she embarked on a complete change in her style, moving away from the influence of post-impressionism and fauvism. She dedicated an entire year to exploring a new mode of expression, immersing herself in her imagination. This led to the creation of new figures characterized by simplicity, conveying positivity, joy, and telling stories about music, dance, and everyday life.

She also participated in “Artists for Children” Charity Art Auctions, showcasing her work to support children in need.

In 2019 and 2021, she participated in the competition organized by  A’ Design Award & Competition in Como, Italy, where she won the prestigious A’ Design Award in the category “Arts, Crafts and Ready-Made Design” for two separate projects:  2021 “Symbolic Dance” and 2019 ”Friends Forever”. She has been awarded multiple times for her new  painting style.

In 2022, she closed her art gallery in Carinthia and moved to South Tyrol, where she currently resides.

STATEMENT

My Name is Annemarie Ambrosoli.

My inspiration comes from various sources such as music, songs, poems, and life experiences that surround me.

Creating my paintings brings me immense tranquility and positivity, emotions that I aim to convey to the viewer. I have a particular affinity for painting with oil and watercolor techniques. Rather than spontaneously creating the drawing during the painting process, I meticulously plan and study each composition through preparatory sketches to ensure balance.

I simplify my figures using lines, circles, and symbols, employing geometric shapes to realize the vision I have in mind. Vibrant colors play a crucial role in my work, bringing joy and vitality to the unique figures I create.

My primary focus is to convey a powerful message of positivity to the viewer through vibrant colors, joyful expressions depicted in my paintings, and balanced compositions. This message aims to inspire a better, happier, and more positive life.
