Ausra Petrikaite

Ausra Petrikaite – Artist Biography

Lithuanian - Resident in Germany - Born: January 23, 1989

Ausra Petrikaite is a Lithuanian oil painter based in Germany, whose work captures the quiet poetry and emotional strength of nature. Her paintings often feature expansive skies, misty horizons, and open fields, spaces that evoke stillness and introspection. Each brushstroke reflects a dialogue between inner emotion and the outer landscape, where light becomes a symbol of renewal and nature a mirror of the soul. Working exclusively with oil on canvas, Ausra embraces the slow, meditative process of layering color and texture to create atmospheric depth and movement.

From an early age, Ausra felt a deep connection to colors and landscapes. She later studied at the Vilnius Academy of Arts, earning her Bachelor’s degree in Design with a strong foundation in fine arts, painting, and composition. While design shaped her sense of balance and structure, painting became her true language — a way to express emotion beyond words.

Her oil paintings often depict vast, open skies, distant horizons, and moments of stillness that reveal the spiritual essence of nature. Every brushstroke is guided by intuition and feeling — an attempt to capture not only how the world looks, but how it feels.

As a vegetarian and nature lover, Ausra draws inspiration from the living world — from the calm after rain, from misty fields, from the endless shades of blue and green that shift with the light. Her work invites the viewer to pause, to breathe, and to reconnect with the quiet beauty that surrounds us every day.

For Ausra, painting is not only an act of creation but also one of reflection — a way of listening to nature and transforming its silence into color.

Through drawing and painting, humanity first learned to speak without words.
