Paulo de Tarso

Paulo de Tarso is a Brazilian architect and visual artist, creator of the series “Scars of Memory,” with dimensions of 70x70cm (paper) and 50x50cm (image), printed on cotton paper. Made using an iPhone 13 and processed through Hipstamatic software, the series investigates the verticalization of cities and the destruction and construction of houses replaced by buildings or stores.

Old houses become objects of architectural fury, erasing the memory of their past and inhabitants. This work captures the scars left by this process, unable to reconstruct the lives once lived there, resigning itself to the scars that remain.

Paulo holds a degree in architecture, a master’s degree in multimedia, and is currently pursuing a PhD in Visual Arts at the University of Campinas (UNICAMP).
