Alexandra Ghimisi

Alexandra Ghimisi, a Romanian-born artist, embarked on her artistic journey in 2016 when she relocated to the UK to pursue her passion for art. She holds a BA degree from the National University of Arts Bucharest, a testament to her dedication to honing her craft. As a Fellow of the Nottingham Society of Artists and a member of the National Acrylic Painters Association,  Alexandra actively contributes to the local and international art scene.

As a contemporary painter, Alexandra captures the essence of natural world through her acrylic paintings. Each piece she creates tells a unique story, whether it’s the rugged coastline or the serene countryside. Her work explores the intricate relationship between humanity and nature, offering fresh perceptions of landscapes and encouraging a deeper connection with our environment.

Her artistic practice focuses on the connection between nature’s cycles and human emotions, exploring how the changing seasons influence our perceptions of colour, mood, and time. Working primarily with acrylic on canvas, she uses a semi-abstract style to interpret nature’s transformations, capturing its energy and constant flux. Nature offers her endless inspiration, not only in its vivid, ever-changing landscapes but also in the subtler details that may go unnoticed.

In 2024, she was awarded the prestigious Holbrooke Art Prize and exhibiting at the LONDON ART BIENNALE Women in Art, further establishing her reputation. Her work can be found in both public and private collections across Europe.
