Violet

A young girl, as if distracted from her musing, sets her shy yet intent gaze on the spectator, her deep eyes in contrast to amorphous flowers. Both invoking and conveying curiosity, partly due to her exotic nature, she is portrayed as vulnerable and candid as the flowers she shares the canvas with.

This painting is made on heavy-duty natural canvas that I prime and stretch myself to achieve a highest-quality painting surface. Working exclusively with oil paints, I used mostly palette knife and flat brushes to leave the paint textured and bold.
